• October 2009 - EUROMOLD 2009
iCapp exhibits at EUROMOLD 2009 (2.- 5. Dec. 2009, Frankfurt, Germany). Main focus is Reverse Engineering. We present our software products rhinoreverse and covermesh. Further on the service to design complex free form surfaces such as special shaped roofs for architecture. EUROMOLD is the World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development.
You will find us in hall 11, booth F98.

  • January 2009 - covermesh V1 released
The first version of a totally automated surface reconstruction tool for organic shapes is released now. covermesh is brilliant to convert bone surfaces, coming from segmented CT-data, to NURBS-faces. The software can be used as stand-alone program but also within another CAD-CAM application. No graphical-user-interface is needed to manually prepare data or define calculation parameter.
  • September 2008 - TSE Success Story
"Schneidmesserkonstruktion per Software liefert bessere Werkzeuge" is the title of Bm-Form-Tecs report about the sucess using software TrimSteeExpert (TSE). TSE was developed in cooperation of iCapp GmbH and Cenit AG Systemhaus. Read more in www.blechnet.com.
  • July 2008 - NURBS surfaces for more than 5000 bones
Stryker mandated iCapp to create surfaces for more than 5000 digitized bones. Stryker develops medical technologies for individual patient requirements. To work on virtual data they digitized lower human extremities by CT. To get sufficient input data for engineering tasks like solid modeling a transformation of the discrete STL data to continuous NURBS faces needed to be done. Find more detail about the project in Products/Special Developments & Services.
  • May 2008 - First automated solution for surface reconstruction with trimmed NURBS ready
Automatically creating trimmed NURBS surfaces on given point mesh data is one of the most needed technologies for reverse engineering tasks. The algorithm was dedicated to organic structures such as bones. A beta-plug-in for Rhinoceros© will be presented in September 08 at Rhino's reseller meeting in Barcelona.
  • April 2008 - Forum for Tool Shop in Stuttgart, Germany.
CENIT AG Systemhaus held at 9. April the 3-rd Tool Shop Forum in Stuttgart, House of Architects. Part of the event was dedicated to the automated design of trimming steels. J. Möller from AUDI AG and T. Kownatzki from BM FORM TEC GmbH referred to the introduction of TRIM STEEL EXPERT (TSE). Software TSE (for Catia V5) was developed in collaboration of CENIT and ICAPP .
  • February 2008 - PanelShop Version 8.0 released. The module "Restrike-Tools" is now available. New in module AUTO SBC (springback compensation) e.g.: Fixed faces that have not been modified during the FE-optimization process will not be modified either. Symmetry is now supported. Find more details about our products in section panelshop product.
  • November 2007 - EUROMOLD (5.- 8. Dec. Frankfurt) Stand E 79, Hall 6.1
"Designing high-tech CAD-data for complex surfaces" is our motto. We present our services and CAD software products: rhinoreverse, a plug-in for CAD-software Rhinoceros© to transform point meshes to NURBS faces and panelshop, a toolbox for toolmakers in car body construction.
  • October 2007 - Centre Pompidou Metz
By order of Holzbau Amann (one of the world leaders for timber constructions), commissioned iCapp to created a smooth single NURBS surface for the synthetic membrane lamination of the roof (approx. 100m*100m). The task was to transform given 3000 3D points from the architectural concept while having regard to many different boundary conditions coming from aesthetic, engineering and production criteria.
  • August 2007 - Using kindly support from company AUTOFORM ENGINEERING GmbH, we could successfully test our panelshop-module AutoSBC with data sets from AUTOFORMS´s springback-compensation (Version 4.1). AutoSBC works as fast and accurate as usual.
  • December 2007 - PanelShop version 7 ready for shipping.
  • May 2006 - Automated face construction for springback compensation in the field of tool making. We reached the goal, to do the second step fully automatically: The tranformation of original faces onto compensated mesh-surfaces. This new module is part of our software PanelShop.
  • February 2006 - Development Agreement with Cenit AG Systemhaus (Stuttgart) closed. The algorithms to automatically compute solids for trimming and forming dies will be realized within a new Catia CAA product. Cenit AG is Gold-Partner of Dassault Systems (Paris).
  • January 2006 - Enlargement of the collaboration with ESI Group (Paris). We concentrate on the product development of PAM-DIEMAKER und PAM-DIEMAKER for Catia V5 (ESI Group). ESI Group is Gold-Partner of Dassault Systems (Paris).
  • April 2005 - Mesh2Nurbs Version 1 now available! Mesh2Nurbs places the rusult of consistent development in the field of surface reconstruction from point data. Thus we fulfill the user need after a fully automatic surface reconstruction. Meshed curve loops can be simplified likewise. To reduce update times in solid construction (e.g. using Catia V5) given face models could be simplyfied. See section products for detailed information.
  • March 2005 - To obtain a closed process chain for springback compensation we cooperate with ESI Group (Paris). ESI Group developed powerful FE-software for springback prediction and die compensation. To transform automatically the compensated surface mesh data into CAD compatible spline faces, we expended our software PanelShop.
  • Nov. 2004 - iCapp exhibits at the fair Euromold, 1.-4.12.04 in Frankfurt. Hall 9.2, Stand A08. We expose our new developments. Product presentations: "panelshop" 02.12. Hall 9.2. Design and Engineering Forum at 11.00, "offsetmodul" and "cuttool" 03.12. Hall 9.1 Stand G 132 at 16.30.
  • Juli 2004 - PanelShop 5.4 now available! Beside a lot of small improvements, we focused the development on automtic offset surface calculation. Now, it is feasible to calculate 0-faces on the base of incomplete CAD-surface data. PanelShop is qualified to be used in the earliest stage of engineering workflow. The current updated translators from Acis R13 have been integrated, too.
  • April 2004 - We have moved! Our new adress is iCapp GmbH, Technoparkstrasse 1, CH-8005 Zürich, Switzerland, Fone: 0041 43 818 2515.
  • March 2004 - Offset-faces for tool design and construction. ThyssenKrupp Nothelfer (Ravensburg, Germany) and iCapp (Zürich, Switzerland) announced the results of a pilot scheme. "Offset-faces complete the CAE design chain for heavy stamping tools for car body construction."
  • March 2004 - iCapp exhibits at the fair Südblech in Sinsheim. From 31.03 to 03.04 we expose in hall 6, stand 6511 (together with Fepcon Engineering Services) our software PanelShop 4.2 for the purpose of surface reconstruction from point cloud.
  • February 2004 - PanelShop 4.1 now available! Much more control for complex surface reconstruction and quality now applicable with a user-driven mechanism for inserting control rows. Furthermore curvature and the changes of the sign of curvature can be displayed.
